Udaipur – The city of lakes

Udaipur, the capital of the preceding magnificent state of Mewar is a gorgeous city in Rajasthan .



The Udaipur usually call as  the most loving city in india , was contructed around four lakes.

The easygoing blue waters follows white places and temples, beyond which  shimmer the  isolated aravali hills.


The udaipur was established  in 1558 maharaja udai singh II as the capital of land of mewar, located to the southwest of nagda on the bank of banas river, the opening capital of mewar.

1.  Lake Palace

The Lake Palace- constructed between 1743 and 1746  under the adminstration of Maraja Jagat Singh II of  rajasthan as a winter palace. It is built of white marble and it located on jag niwas peninsula in lake pichola. It is a luxury 5 star hotel between the waters of lake pichola operting under the ” Taj hotels and resort” banner.

2. Fatehsagar Lake

Fatehsagar lake is the second fabricated lake of udaipur,the first is jaisamand lake, situated in the north of pichola lake. it is the most loving palace for the people of the rajasthan. it seems too much preety at the night time. Since it has been ruined due to the heavy rainfall Maharaja Fateh Singh took it with himself to carry all the expenditure of reconstructing the bank and it was in the respect of his augmentation to the place that the lake was titled after him.

3. Jaisamand Lake

It is the Asia’s second largest artificial lake. It surrounds the radius of 48 kms from the city lakes. Maharaja Jai Singh constructed this lake while making dam on gomti river. The Lake covers the range of 36 sq kms ,span to the length of 14 km . The maximum height of the lake is 102 feets.

4. Rajsamand Lake

Rajsamand Lakes is one of the popular lakes of udaipur, situated 66 kms north of city of lakes . It was contruct  by Maharaja Raj singh in 1660. River gomti is the limited  supplier of water to the lake. it streches the length of 4 miles. the lkes is 60 feet depth.
